4-Column Hydraulic Press 50T with Progressive Die

For a metal industry client, Fabrit designed and delivered a 4-column hydraulic press with a pressing force of 50 tons, equipped with a progressive die and an automatic strip feeder.

The objective of the project was to integrate several separate technological operations into a single, fully automated machine.

Client Challenge

Previously, the production process was carried out on five separate machines performing:

  • forming,

  • marking,

  • hole punching,

  • trimming.

The distributed nature of the process resulted in:

  • high operational costs,

  • multiple intermediate transfers,

  • increased risk of errors,

  • limited process efficiency,

  • non-optimal resource utilization.

The client required a solution capable of consolidating all operations into one automated system with minimal operator involvement.

Scope of Work

Fabrit was responsible for:

  • development of the technological concept integrating all operations,

  • mechanical design of the 4-column hydraulic press,

  • design and manufacturing of the progressive die,

  • integration of the automatic strip feeding system,

  • commissioning and optimization of the automatic operating mode,

  • preparation of full technical documentation.

Implemented Solution

The result was a 4-column hydraulic press with a 50-ton capacity operating in fully automatic mode.

The machine integrates within a single cycle:

  • forming,

  • marking,

  • hole punching,

  • trimming.

The progressive die enables all operations to be performed in a continuous strip process, significantly reducing cycle time.

Additionally, the tooling was designed for quick changeover, allowing the press to produce components in two different diameters without replacing the entire system.

Results

  • consolidation of five separate operations into one machine,

  • significant reduction of operational costs,

  • increased production efficiency and process stability,

  • elimination of intermediate handling and transfers,

  • minimized operator interaction,

  • quick changeover between two product variants,

  • improved repeatability and product quality.
