4-Column Hydraulic Press 50T with Progressive Die
Automated 50-ton four-column hydraulic press with progressive die and automatic brass strip feeding.

Fabrit designed and built a 50-ton four-column hydraulic press for automated forming of components from brass strip. The machine combines a rigid four-column press structure, automatic material feeding and a multi-stage progressive die.
The complete system was developed as a dedicated production machine integrating the pressing process, material handling and automatic control in a single workstation.
Challenge
The production process required high and stable pressing force, precise guidance of the tooling and automatic strip feeding. Repeatability of the forming process and reliable operation in automatic mode were key requirements.
An additional objective was to reduce tooling changeover time and allow the machine to manufacture different product variants without replacing the complete tooling system.
Implemented solution
- four-column hydraulic press with a pressing force of 50 tons,
- hydraulic cylinder with a piston diameter of 160 mm,
- 7.5 kW hydraulic power unit with hydraulic accumulator,
- automatic pneumatic strip feeder,
- automatic lubricant feeding system,
- multi-stage progressive die for processing brass strip,
- quick-change punches and dies reducing changeover time,
- HMI control with automatic and manual operating modes.
Results
The project resulted in a complete automated workstation for forming components from brass strip. The machine provides stable process parameters, repeatable production and automatic material feeding through the progressive tooling.
The progressive die combines consecutive forming operations within a continuous strip process, while the quick-change tooling concept reduces downtime when changing between product variants.

Solution tailored to the process

Four-column press structure
The rigid four-column structure provides precise tool guidance and stable load transfer during consecutive forming operations.

Progressive die forming
Successive forming operations are performed step by step on the brass strip until the final component geometry is achieved.
